Cassadaga History
The town of Cassadaga started from the founding of the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association. The Camp was founded by a very talented trance medium George P. Colby from Pike, New York. His spirit guide, Seneca, instructed him to establish a Spiritualist community in the south.
The location was chosen for its unique energy level. ·The word Cassadaga is a term used by the Seneca Indians meaning, “Rocks beneath the water.
The Camp was chartered on December 18, 1894, and as they say, the rest is history!!
